Why do I need an IDP?
An International Driving Permit (IDP) lets you drive abroad using your valid driver’s license. Car rental companies often require it and may be requested by local authorities to verify your credentials.
Do I Need an IDP?
You can check using our destination checker to confirm if you need an IDP. The IDP translates your license into multiple languages, but it cannot replace your original license which must be valid and kept with you at all times. Our IDP follows the 1949 Geneva Convention and is accepted in over 150 countries.
How to Get Your IDP

What is included with my IDP?
The IDP consists of the Printed IDP Booklet as well as the Digital IDP Booklet.
Printed IDP Booklet
The printed IDP Booklet contains your driving details, which you enter as part of your online application.
It includes 16 pages, covering:
- Validity period of your IDP
- A list of countries where the 1949 IDP is accepted
- Vehicles you’re authorized to drive, detailed in 12 languages
- Your personal photo
- Your signature (drawn or uploaded image)
- First and last names
- Date of birth
- Country of birth
- Country of residence
The IDP is valid from 1 to 3 years, depending on the country and which one you choose to go for. On the front of your IDP there is a QR code. When scanned, you will be taken straight to your IDP document for easy online access. Your printed IDP booklet will be sent to your shipping address, with delivery times varying from 2 to 15 working days. There is express delivery available for 2-7 days if you need it in a hurry. The digital IDP booklet is a great option for last-minute trips and emergencies.
Digital IDP Booklet
The Digital IDP Booklet is a handy PDF version of your IDP booklet, designed for quick access when needed. A Digital copy ensure you will never lose your IDP.
Once your application is approved, the Digital copy will be sent to your email with a link so you can download it directly and easily save it to your phone, tablet, or laptop for on-the-go use.

IDP Verification Card
The IDP card is a translation of your driving license. It is more compact than the booklet and great for IDP verification on the go. It has your license details in English. The IDP card complements your driving license, it is not valid on its own. You must carry your driving license with also for it to be valid.
